"Telecoms vendors have been keen to understand whether operators will pay a premium for sustainable technologies. Analysys Mason’s research shows significant sums of money are on the table, but substantial sums are also at risk."

According to Analysys Mason’s Operator sustainability: assessing the opportunities and risks for telecoms vendors, operators will spend as much as USD300 billion over the next 5 years on making sustainability-influenced changes to their infrastructure. Consequently, they are asking vendors to improve the sustainability of the products they buy from them.

The question that vendors have posed to Analysys Mason is: “Will operators pay more for sustainability?” The good news for vendors is that some say they will. However, vendors will benefit from a better opportunity if they can demonstrate additional advantages on top of improved sustainability. Vendors also face a downside risk of deselection if they fail to reduce the environmental impact of their products and services.
