The private networks market continues to face barriers to wider adoption, but there are signs of steady progress
Analysys Mason recently updated its private LTE/5G networks forecast report and projects the worldwide network spend on private networks will increase from USD2 billion in 2024 to USD7 billion in 2029. This represents rapid growth, but the spend in context to other market segments highlights that the private networks opportunity remains nascent.
- In 2029, worldwide spending on private networks is expected to account for less than 5% of the total capex and opex spent on public mobile networks.
- Spending on private networks will account for less than 3% of worldwide spending on wireless, wide-area IoT (though this is not an exact comparison, as the IoT total also includes spending on devices and applications).
