Quantum technologies became an increasingly important focus area for telecoms operators in 2025. Operators moved from proofs of concept (PoCs) and trials towards commercial deployments across quantum key distribution (QKD), post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum computing. This article examines the main drivers of operators’ quantum-technology investments, as well as deployment trends, partnership activities and implications for the telecoms sector.
