Near-real-time RIC: optimising the management and control of the Open RAN
16 December 2022 | Research
Strategy report | PPTX and PDF (18 slides) | Network Automation and Orchestration
The current systems used to manage and control RANs are not suitable for the open and virtual RANs that mobile network operators (MNOs) are now deploying. MNOs should therefore use the near-real-time (near-RT) RAN intelligent controller (RIC); this will enable them to accelerate RAN automation and support new, low-latency, 5G use cases.
Information included in this report
- Analysis of the opportunities for MNOs that plan to deploy the near-RT RIC for RAN automation
- Information and insights that MNOs can draw upon when formulating their own open RAN strategies
- Six profiles of vendors that offer near-RT RIC solutions
