The role of networks as an enabler for AI was the main theme of Colt’s analyst event in September 2023. Colt’s historical focus on connectivity services has been complemented in recent years by the development of partnerships to offer SD-WAN, security, UC and other adjacent services. However, when it comes to AI, Colt’s focus is very much on networks, and the anticipated massive increases in data flows that will need to be supported.
Many operators are talking up new service opportunities associated with AI rather than the impact on connectivity. However, the perspective taken by Colt is an important one for all operators as they consider where and how to invest to keep pace with changes in network demand.
