KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2024 took place in Paris between 19 and 22 March 2024. The event celebrated the 10-year anniversary of Kubernetes, the groundbreaking open-source platform that has revolutionised container orchestration and is the bedrock for all cloud-native developments (including the ongoing AI boom). Operators such as BT, Deutsche Telekom, NTT DOCOMO, Orange and Swisscom showed a particular interest in the optimisation of cloud-native automation, WebAssembly (Wasm), observability and cloud-native networking.
Operators are increasingly using cloud-native open-source bodies and events as vital resources to address the challenges that they face in integrating their traditional infrastructure with modern, cloud-native solutions. The key to overcoming these obstacles lies in fostering collaboration and engaging with such open-source communities. Operators must work together to find practical solutions and should refine and adapt technological innovations to meet the specific and unique requirements of telecoms workloads and operations.
