Selected MNOs are showing their peers how to use eSIM services to compete with digital-only rivals
Prospects of mobile revenue growth are limited in high-income countries because mobile population penetration is already near saturation. Furthermore, an increasing number of non-operator, digital-only companies have entered, or plan to enter, the mobile market with eSIM-based solutions; this makes revenue growth even more difficult for established operators to achieve.
eSIM technology is a new, promising solution that enables MNOs to target a broader customer base, generate incremental revenue and improve their app user experience (an area where they lag behind the digital-native companies that are now entering the mobile market).
