Operators have committed to reporting emissions, but large gaps exist in Scope 3 and resource disclosures

Operators worldwide demonstrate a strong commitment to basic emissions reporting. Indeed, only 2 of the 52 global operators in the latest edition of Analysys Mason’s Environmental KPI tracker: telecoms operators did not publicly report their Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions between 2018 and 2023. However, the reporting of Scope 3 emissions continues to pose a challenge; 12 operators in our tracker have yet to disclose any figures and many have not set net-zero value chain targets. Many operators also report little-to-no data on waste management and water consumption.
