The problem

  • The owner of a major MVNO asked us to work with the shareholders and management to consider the options and business valuation(s) arising from a change of host network circumstances
  • We explored various market scenarios, wholesale access options and the requirements to move to a full MVNO

The solution

  • We developed market scenarios and business plan inputs, and worked with our client’s investment bankers to prepare valuation models and quantitative scenario results for decision making
  • We investigated capacity requirements for a wholesale negotiation
  • We worked with our client’s legal advisers to prepare the legal agreements which would be needed for wholesale access in a full-MVNO arrangement
  • We engaged with the MVNO’s technical team to identify the platform options and requirements, and drafted technical RFI documentation
  • We engaged with potential vendors, on behalf of the MVNO, to identify the options and improved approaches to meeting the full MVNO needs of the business
  • We prepared the RFQ documentation for the vendor quotation stage
  • We supported the client with a vendor appraisal matrix and recommendations

The result

  • We provided detailed business planning and valuation inputs, including capital and operating costs for the MVNO transformation
  • We engaged with a number of vendors to commence the design and procurement process for the full MVNO architecture, leading to the first go/no-go management decision to move forward. Our client’s plans changed and the valuations under a light-MVNO model became critical

We provided support to a major MVNO to assess its options arising from the merger of its host operator with another MNO, including the requirements to move to full-MVNO status
